Strand Celtic are delighted to confirm that works are due to commence on the floodlights and astro surface replacement in early January 2026 and are expected to take up to 6 weeks during which time the playground and Astro will be closed. There will also be some restrictions on the grass pitch usage whilst the new floodlights are installed and further details of those will be provided at the time.

These initiatives have been made possible due to grants from Sligo County Council (€90k) and Sports Capital (€45k) and will bring the total investment in the community park to in excess of €500,000 since 2020.

The key to this level of investment success has been the close co-operation between Strand Celtic and the trustees of the park and our sincere thanks go out to Michael Keane, Kieran Tobin, Frank McMorrow and  Orla O'Mahony of Strandhill Community Park for their assistance and forbearance with the many grant and bridging loan applications that have transformed the facilities available for the community over many years.

The contractors for the works are Electric Skyline (lights) and PST (astro) and the club would like to pay tribute to the club's project manager John Bohan, who with the support and expertise of Tim Corkery and Mick McEnroe has been instrumental in the specification, negotiation and finalisation of the contracts that will deliver these important improvements to the community park.
